Arabs/Islam Bashing, Jan.2003:

As I sit here amazed and irritated yet again after reading another bash Arabs/Islam article about how Islam is evil because they hate dogs by Kathleen Parker, syndicated columnist, so eloquently placed in our newspaper. I ponder if anyone will ever make the connection of life, and living in this world together.

Heck we don't even have to live together as one, just agreeing to disagree would be fine. Realizing we all can live in this world together, while remaining separately, uniquely, as individuals would be great. Geesh lets go out on a limb here and say even though some of our Christian leaders Chester the molester and gay Tommy Banger who sodomizes our children in our public schools before our very own American eyes are no better than the "evil middle east Islamic bad apples" religion and the Holy Quran. No where in the Holy Bible do I recall such events being a blessing. You show me one evil Arab/Islamic person and I will show you one more evil American. Does our evening news fill our homes with cheery goodie goodie's each evening? I think not. Do we lock our Church doors because our religions are free of bad apples? Uh, nope. I am American as Apple pie, and while I will be one of the first to support my country being a former United States Army Reservist in addition to being a proud American, I do not support people bashing, or I try not to. I try to evaluate each individual as....well, individuals. It doesn't always work, however I feel some of the middle east bashing is inappropriate. Yes, Ossama Bin Laden is a dangerous man, indeed Saddam Hussein needs exiled and out of power, for several reasons.

This is not a world about who is white red black yellow, who is right or wrong, who is superior and without faults, or at least it shouldn't be. The issues should be more clear, precise, concise about living in this world in peace, without terrorism, no bullying, not forcing convictions and beliefs upon one another. This should be our focus, not placing blame, finding fault, and certainly not attributing to the superior than thou syndrome. We all bleed the same, as do we cry the same tears, and we all live with fear. In trying to resolve our fears we often place blame upon our neighbors, friends, allies, enemies. Apples and Oranges we all may be, but we are all fruits grown from the same soil from different trees, upon different lands, all in God/Allah's world. We just live here, and try to exist peacefully in it, or we should. Shame on you Kathleen Parker.

With War Looming, Feb.2003:

As war seems to be hovering above the world like a thunder gray cloud, I wonder why? After all, many seem to disagree why a war might take place. It seems so simple to grasp this idea to me yet it eludes many even still. Well it's not about oil, it's about peace through out the world and not allowing other countries, or leaders to threaten one another with germ/chemical/nuclear war if they dont get what they want. Iraq's Saddam Hussein wants to portray the looming war ahead as if it is about oil, to distract a severe lack of his cooperation and continual dismissal of complying with what everyone should want first and foremost...peace ! Rebeling time and time again and repeated requests for compliance which are rarely met from Iraq's Saddam Hussein should not go unheard and be dealt with. I am a believer in peaceful resolutions and not war unless it is absolutely needed as are all I hope. Yet I believe all of the peaceful avenues here have been traveled and traveled until the pavement is wore down to dirt.

Some people even try to confuse what is in America's mind of world peace to that of oil dependency, control, political, or world domination issues that are not factual but dilussional interpretations of it's true need and desire for peace worldwide. Nothing more, nothing less. This should not be America's war but everyone's war to live. I am horrified by the seemingly lack of support by some people. People are holding up signs no blood for oil. I just have to sigh and shake my head at the thought that they truly believe that. Folks, what is it going to take for you to realize that if Suddam gets the chance to build weapons of mass destruction and use them, oil will not be on anyone's mind for sure !

It seems so easy to just bomb Iraq at first thought. Then comes to mind the families that are just like you and I. The mom’s and dad’s and sisters and brothers, Iraqies but still families. Are their lives less valuable because they are of another culture, country other than America? Indeed they are not, so what then is the answer? Exile? IF Saddam truly valued his country and culture he would gracefully step aside to avoid it’s destruction and loss of many innocent lives. Will this happen? It seems not so ultimately the value of life is then placed upon a greater for all importance. Yes, many lives will be lost in the event of war, however I think of it in this way…generations to come shall reap the benefit of disarming Saddam Hussein. The answer is a hard one to come by but very necessary, and extremely vital to worldwide peace and peace of mind. Bring down the tirant who desires to hold the world hostage with his threats and continual disregard for humanity as a whole, and rule it. God help us all....then there's North Korea.

War and Peace:

So it seems that we the people are about to go to war no matter what, with either Iraq or North Korea, or both. With all this doom and gloom, I find myself yearning for more meaning to every day, every minute, every second. I think what if there is no next moment? I should make the most out of the one I have, not taking for granted there shall be a next. Every day I take out the good china and the crystal and dine by candle light savoring every flavor I have carefully prepared in my microwave. Who says good taste has to take hours to prepare? Each morning I wake early to view the sunrise slowly wake up on the sleepy horizon just outside my bedroom window. I try every evening to gaze into the night stars of dreams to achieve yet, and cast wishes to send all over the world to my family, friends and fans. My heart yearns for love and peace for not only myself every minute I am breathing but through out the world to all.

Life is a gift, unwrap it ! With God and strength, surely the sources we seek shall emerge bountiful. In the attempt to not take for granted my loved ones, I remain commited to contact them on a regular basis. Making time for all of these things is often very demanding. However upon completion it is heart warming to me and well worth any time or trouble I may have gone to. After all is said and done, I want to be able to say up until my last moment I have lived life and was full of life. Will there be a tomorrow? Probably, but who knows? Only God knows, and he's keeping it a secret.

So as we all march through this life, we can take comfort in knowing in the arms of the Angels, and in the eyes of God we will find some comfort in our hearts, when no where else can we find it in this troublesome day and age with threats of wars. Peace can be only a prayer away. Imagine if everyone in the whole world at this very moment was praying. There could be no war, only peace. Invision not only what we all seek, but practice it. The journey from within, let the journey begin !

An Arab Nation, not little America:

In America's attempt to free an Arab nation we do not want to tie Iraq to an American democratic future. After all is said and done we the American people would like to be viewed upon as liberators not dictators of a different sort. The last thing the Arabs would want is a little America in their Arab world, and rightfully so. What makes their part of the world so unique is that it is an Arab nation. In the future lies a chance to unite our two so very different "worlds", a chance to unite the Christians and the Muslims, a chance for the Arabs to view American's as people who desire peace around the world, a chance to take the negative thoughts about America and to turn them into more positive ones .

Upon the brutal regime topple of Saddam remains a new day, a new chance, for a new Arab nation. One with a past of rich culture, of deep pride and honor, a culture that believes in Allah. One with a bright future as well. Who are we to take this moment in time to attempt to make a "Little America" out of their country ? Who are we to say what shall be done next ? What is right for them or not is not for us to say or dictate to these already angry people. What they want, they should have. If America views it as a wrong choice well then so be it. How would we American's feel if Israel bombed us and told us to be Jewish or something other than what we wanted ?

Let's not get off track here. America said it was freeing Iraq of nuclear threat to the world from Saddam's regime. America said it was freeing the Iraqi's, not taking down one regime to install what America feels is right for Iraq. A fine line is going to be crossed if we now attempt to rule Iraq by disguising ourselves as freedom fighters yet saying what is acceptable and not acceptable by our standards. All we have attempted and accomplished in this war will then be not only deemed useless lies but unfair American dictatorship attempts. By leaps and bounds America will have taken 4 steps backwards instead of 2 steps forward with the Arab world, let alone this one Arab country. Maybe the Iraqi's won't choose what you and I might want to choose for them as a country but then again so what, as long as the nuclear threat is gone, live and let live, whatever that may be. I don't live there.

Beating a Dead Horse:

Well I hate to beat a dead horse to death as the saying goes but hey the world has plain gone mad. We no sooner get one monkey off our backs, and then more come a leaping. What's up with Israel and Palestine now geesh. Is life so seemingly expendible? My God, if only we all could see how the killing is so meaningless. A local newspaper stated that teenagers are responsible for going nuts doing this killing and yet claiming they are doing all this madness in the name of God. Oh Please don't make me throw up ! As in any religion there are good and bad people. The good people don't make the newspapers much however. Please keep this in mind as you send me your kind emails about "my fellow muslims". I proudly defend my position in choosing my religion, while I do not nor ever will condone any of the madness and yes it is madness "executed" by some small percentage of the 1.2 billion muslims in the world today according to recent figures. There is almost as many muslims now as there are 1.9 billion christians. Who I might point out, have also made our newspapers sodemizing our young boys. But hey not all christians are evil !

Our religions are not that different in fact, they have many more similarities than differences. Yet for some reason in many peoples minds it is "them" against "us". Why is this? Recently I met a muslim woman and to my delight she is from Texas. An American muslim who for 20 years plus, has been a solid religious woman comitting no crimes. Is it because she is from Texas and not the middle east ? I think not. That's obsurd, and further more insulting. It is because she is one of the 1.2 billion muslims that do not make the newspapers for her good deeds. Perhaps if as individuals we were as interested in sensitive issues more than sensational issues maybe news reporting would then turn to reporting the good in us all rather than the bad in us. Personally I would much rather read about how Suzie saved the life of her Aunt rather than a bombing killing 15 human lives. Which brings to mind a very good point...if we stop writing and reading about such sensationalism who then would care to get such attention in doing such evil deeds? Indeed who?

Picnics and Parties and a Run Away Crab:

Summer is finally here in deep freeze New York ! I didn't ever think this place would warm up but with alot of moaning and groaning and hope, I'm so darn toasty I had to break out the air conditioner. Too hot, too cold, I just can't win. However, the good news is I can picnic under a tree by Lake Champlain. I can go to beach parties and get all sun burnt, and stuff my face with cheeseburgers and burnt weenies, and even more gross... burnt marshmellows. What a life ! It truly is the only time my stomach can actually digest crispy black sizzling once flaming oozing food. As if to say I'm down here and I need it from the long cold winter, haha. It is true I tell you. You won't catch me eating a weenie after summer, let alone a black hard hotdog stuffed in a bun, pretending to like it smothered with catsup. Perhaps this is the reason for the catsup in the first place ? Ah, it's not all that important to debate America's nasty eating habits.

I'd much rather move onto the summer beaches and all its warm and fun, but you'll have to excuse me for a while I see a crab scurring across my carpet. Joking oh no ! See after my son and I warmed up after this bitter winter, he decided to get a fish tank and bring the outdoors inside. Much like he tried to do as a toddler with his bugs in his pockets of his jeans. But I thought hey your older now a teenager, go for it son. Get your self a big ol' fish tank and fill it up. I mean really what harm could it be ? Hmmm?

Well obviously you haven't seen the shark in his fish tank or the huge whatever it is thing lurking around in there, and yes the crab that aparently got out ! And not a little crab but a nice size ugly barnacle ridden beast. Enjoy your summer and see you folks next month, maybe I will have caught this crab by then, gosh it's faster than speedy gonzalos, and scarier than Mike Tyson, and just as ugly !

Hey I got it ! The bird that he talked me into that I fell for last month, I can let it out of it's cage and allow it to swoop down and catch this critter, have it for an appetizer quicker than you can holler pass the watermellon ! More than likely, I'll wake up with this crab on my face in the middle of the night, scream and swallow the @$#@!!!!!!!, then put the bird in the fish tank, the fish tank out the window, and go back to sleep. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. I'm not planning anything though.

The Run Away Crab, a little magic and luck:

With a little magic and luck, the crab has a new home. While I love steamed blue crabs from the Chesepeake Bay, I don't fancy swallowing Barnacle Tyson at midnight as I sigh in a marvelous dream I happen to be having at the time. So I went in search of Barnacle Tyson with much hesitation. Knowing full well only two things can come of my search. One being BT is caught but I had to kill him to catch him. Two being BT is dead because I caught him.

I tried not to think about possiblility three which occured when I tried to catch the once pet rodent that the boys had way back when thought was so cute. Cute, yeah uh huh, right. Mother's are idiots, they are way too easy. Long story short the cute rodent got knocked down by the cute cat who wouldn't chase the field mice that wondered into our home from the woods we lived next to. The same cute cat had it in for the invading pet gerbil, more rat looking rodent than pet. I thought the rodent was dead so I bent down to pick it up and properly discard it. BIG mistake !

Leaping lizards come to mind but it wasn't a lizard, only a half dead last attemp to leap from what I am sure it thought to be the pet cat yet again. Well it lept on me, ew, gross, freaked me out. It's dead now, I'm not sure what happened, honest, cross my fingers. Yet suddenly I find myself pondering about days gone by at the summer fairs where the men have this huge sledge hammer and pound it into the ground and if your lucky up goes this little black disk to ring a bell ding ding ding, you win a prize hmmm.

Anyhow, back to Barnacle Tyson the crab escapee.I got lucky and I trapped it in a corner and sprayed it with Niagra Spray starch ! It made a great paperweight, until my son looked at it close up. And like magic he started screaming for a change, and threw it down.

Due to time restraints, I must discontinue this column until further notice or until I get 25 hours in a day !
